Karonda Cook is a mother, wife, and founder of The Jane Group, LLC., a strategic consulting agency that carries her mother’s legacy of empowerment and inspiration. The Jane Group creates engaging strategies that empower brands and retailers to break through the clutter and evolve in a way that differentiates them from their competitors.

A sales and retail merchandising leader with over 12 years of experience, Karonda Cook is seasoned with a diverse career within the consumer-packaged goods industry, with leadership expertise on both the selling and buying sides of the table. This unique combination allows her to leverage her knowledge from both perspectives to cultivate partnerships and develop winning strategies.

Prior to founding The Jane Group, Karonda led Sally Beauty’s Multicultural hair care category as Director of Merchandising. Karonda’s team was responsible for conceptualizing and delivering strategic category business plans, inventory management, pricing initiatives, forecasting, buying, strategic growth plans, promotional calendars, and negotiation of all aspects of the business including store events, and marketing partnerships for over 2,500 stores. Karonda’s most notable achievements included integrating niche natural brands into Sally Beauty’s assortment, understanding that customers have a wide range of hair types and textures.

Her innovative and strategic approach to the category generated dynamic growth and positioned multicultural hair care as the fastest growing category within the company, co-creating innovative launches with major brands such as SheaMoisture, L’Oréal Carol’s Daughter and Design Essentials, and created the brick and mortar platform for major brands such as The Mane Choice. Under her leadership, Sally Beauty became the retail sponsor for Texture on the Runway, the ultimate textured hair destination during Fashion Week.

 

Prior to Sally Beauty, Karonda was a Customer Business Manager for Unilever where she led breakthrough, integrated sales plans for beauty retailers such as Ulta Beauty and Sally Beauty.

Throughout her career, Karonda has been featured within some of the industry’s influential media outlets and recognized by leading organizations for her innovation and results.

Karonda has a passion for giving back with a focus on empowerment. She has mentored for programs dedicated to empowering female entrepreneurship and has volunteered and served on multiple boards focused on youth education. Karonda received a Marketing degree from Clark Atlanta University and an MBA from the University of Texas.
